Beste Sangha vrienden, Dear Friends,
If you look at a photo of you in your youth, is that the same person or a different person?
Memories, thoughts and emotions stay with us a long time. Same as the result of our actions.
Some time ago we practiced taking care of the child in us.
The past two weeks we have looked at (wholesome) thoughts, speech and actions. In the video of the Dharma talk Thay called this karma (action).
Today is the only moment that we can live and act. Today we can take care of the future me.
Maybe you want to write a love letter to your future self, may be something like:
Dear Future me,
Today I do not know yet what we will experience, it will be beautiful things and bad things,
Today I decide to take good care of you and live each day mindfully.
What the result will be of my decisions, I do not know. I will with each decision look deeply into my heart what will be the best way to go
....
If you like you can bring a picture of yourself as kid or baby. and or an item, a picture or a poem of the life and feelings of your future self.
Monday evening, As of 19h15 we will be setting up the Kapel, Help is welcome
19h30 tea and settling down

How to practice in daily life?
Beste Sangha vrienden

20.30: loopmeditatie

Dear Sangha friends
mindfull living has a healing effect. It is an exercise in acting in compassion, love and peace.
We meet every Monday night as Sangha together to practice, to share, to nourish, encountering ourselves, recognizing your emotions and thoughts. Stop and begin anew.
Some of us regularly share te experience that being in the Sangha gives a peaceful feeling. Taking refuge in the Sangha has a healing effect.
The practice does not end when we leave the chapel. The practice goes on all week. Sometimes we notice that it goes surprisingly well, sometimes not as good as we hoped, sometimes simply not. Living mindfull in this hectic world is a challenge, with not the same conditions als our Sangha evening.
Sharing and deep listening can be very helpful. During the coming Dharma sharing at the end of our meditation evening, we will offer the opportunity to reflect on the questions: what do I experience, in daily life? What do I want to practice?
To give you an idea:
TAKE a REST
know when it is necessary to take a rest is an in-depth exercise. Sometimes you're too driven have been busy practicing or had you are too busy with other things in your life, without conscious attention. You can feel very tired . The exercise of mindfull living is not to be stressful, but energetic. When you find yourself still fatigued take more rest. Practicing with a tired body or spirit does not help, and may even lead to more problems. Take good care of yourself to ensure you can take care of others as well. Rest means: stop what you are doing, just lie in bed, or go out to take a walk. There are lots of ways to rest, so listen to the signals from your body and mind, in the interests of those with whom you live. No thinking and doing nothing is the art of rest and recover.
Our evening follows the familiar schedule;
19.15: ready set up and make tea
19:30: tea and arrive
20.00: guided meditation
20.30: walking meditation
20.45: silent meditation 9: dharma sharing
21.30: closure and tea.
My warmest regards, Joost Vriens

Commemorating victims of war
Dear Friends, Beste vrienden,
Maandag is 4 mei doden herdenking.
Moday may-4 we commemorate the deaths of war (WW2 and later)
We like to start early, please be present 19h45, doors open 19h30.
(english below)
The soldier is not our enemy, ignorance and intolerance is our enemy.
War is complicated and has deep impact on lives.
On may-4 we commemorate the victims of war,
the innocents
the people that stood up to defend our freedom
the people that act from delusion and false perception
During the Vietnam war Thich Naht Hanh said:
The soldier is not our enemy, Ignorance and intolerance is our enemy.
We will have 2 minute silence at 20h00, so we like to start at 19h50
After that we will have our normal program with silent walking, silent sitting and Dharma sharing.
Enjoy your weekend and your freedom!
Hans

Connecting to the inner child
Dear Friends,
When you look in your photo album and you see a picture of you as a child.
Is that the same person as you or different?
Where are the experiences, thoughts and feelings of that child now?
How is this child present in you now?
What is this child telling you, what do you want to tell this child now.
From 19h15 we will be setting up the room and make tea (Help is always welcome)
Doors will be open 19h30 for tea and settling down.
Meditation will start at 20h
Have a beautiful sunny spring evening !!
Hans

Touching your inner peace and stability
Dear Friends,
Last week we watched the Dharmatalk of Thich Nhat Hanh on the Island of self.
He invites you to discover your inner peace and stability; your inner freedom.
There is in all of us a quiet peaceful place, full of compassion and love. We are often so busy with worrying and impatience, that we forget to go home to ourselves and find the stability within.
The past months I regained my stability by stopping, becoming quiet and focusing on the small things that make me feel at ease, bring a smile, or make me comfortable. Simple things, like music, friends, cup of tea, experiencing art, a good book, the sunshine and the blue sky.
This Monday we will use the evening to stop and sit together to touch our own 'Island of self'
Doors will be open at 19h30 for tea and settling down.
Meditation will start at 20h
At about 19h15 some help is appreciated for making tea and setting up the room.
Have wonderful weekend!

Island within, Island of self
Dear Friends,
This monday we will watch a 12 minute selection of a Dharma talk by Thich Nhat Hnah.
The topic is "The Island of Self"
All of us have moments or periods that our life is shaken by events around us.
Our practise is to return to our stability and look at the present moment with mindfulness and non-judgement, non discrimination. Observe and stay yourself, don't let the storm take over.
We train our stability to touch our freedom and happyness as often as we can.
We all have this place inside where it is peaceful calm and safe, this is the place no-one can take away This is yours !
We can practise touching this place inside us and touch our peace and solidity.
We all have this place inside where it is peaceful calm and safe, this is the place no-one can take away This is yours !
We can practise touching this place inside us and touch our peace and solidity.
Thay speaks in the video about this in a loving beautyfull anectote from his own life experience.
Doors will be open at 19h30 for settling down and tea,
we will start with short introduction at 20h, silent sitting and video.
Followed by walking meditation and Sharing.
We close as usual with informal tea
As of 19h15 some help is needed for making tea and setting up the room.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Enjoy the storm !

"Ending" and "Beginning anew" in every moment. Sharing Happiness.
Dear Friends,
With this post I like to address 3 topics:
- invitation for coming Monday
- new development in the condition of Anna
- the Sangha-inquiry
This Monday evening we will have a special practice together:
Sharing Happiness.
You are invited to bring and share something that makes you happy, this can be anything that is important to you. A song or a poem, a flower or an anecdote that makes you (or made you) happy and you want to share with the Sangha.
Doors will be open at 19h30 for tea and settling down.
Starting at 20h with a short silent sitting, we will spend the rest of the evening on Happiness.
Please mind that the Kapel (especially the floor) can be cold
Anna
Last week Anna has send an update on her condition. It hurts me deeply to tell you that her cancer has spread into her bones and that she currently is undergoing new and intensified treatment. During January we will know if this new treatment is effective.
Anna encourages us all with a clear and relaxed mind. She embraces her new situation as a new and uncharted part of life. She invites her contacts to share feelings and thoughts and live through it together.
A quote from her mail:
If you want to hear more about Anna and her initiative please contact me.
This brings me to the last topic of this mail. After a message like above anything looks trivial, but this is the complexity of life.
Two weeks ago we had a sharing in the Sangha about the Sangha itself.
Also we send out an inquiry to learn about your experiences and thoughts
If you have not done so, please fill-out this questionnaire online:
