Lijden heeft geen eigenaar
Suffering has no owner

Dear friends,
This week it happened again,
I saw someone fall with a bicycle and I felt a shock.
My breathing stopped and my stomach contracted.
It was an automatic reaction of my whole being, without thinking or considerations, it just is there in the same instance.
i did not know that person, nor did I have any influence or part in what happened.
Still the emotion was very strong.
It is an example of a clearly visible and recognizable accident.
On a different scale you will surely recognize the tension when a friend has to undergo surgery and medical exams.
Or the sorrow when a couple near to you breaks up.
It also works for happiness,
Happiness when someone gets a diploma or is recovering from an illness.
Or the relief when a medical exam has a favorable outcome.
Buddha described as the first noble truth:
"There is suffering"
Suffering arises, it stays a while and it dissolves
Suffering is dependent on causes and conditions
Suffering is never isolated, independent or permanent
The statements "I suffer" or "My suffering" are odd in that light
On the beach I see children play free and without worry
that gives me a deep feeling of happiness
Somewhere and some time the parents or grandparents have dreamt this child
and wished for it to be happy and free.
When I see a child play like this I too receive that love and care.
We share this life with each other, we are part of each others life.
We all have a unique path and a unique experience.
Each one of us have a unique way of perceiving this world and a free choice for a next step.
We are however never alone and never carry suffering or happiness alone.
Have a wondrous day, with beautiful discovery and connection,
Warm greetings,
Hans
