Lichaam en geest zijn verweven.
Body and mind are intertwined.
Online Sangha avond, en meditatie in de Schatkamer
Maandag 23 augustus, 2021 (English below)
Dierbare vrienden,
"Dependent co-arising", vrij vertaald: "in wederzijdse afhankelijkheid
verschijnen".
honger, warm of koud, gespannen, fit of vermoeid, lusteloos of energiek,

Body and mind are intertwined.
Dear friends,
How well do you know your body? How familiar are you with the interaction between body and mind?
In our daily life this happens so naturally that we often overlook the
impact. Using the word interaction, assumes that body and mind are two.
If you look closer you can see that it goes deeper.
Body and mind are intertwined, mutually dependent, they feed each other and rely on each other.
Thich Nhat Hanh uses the word: InterBeing. Body and Mind interare. In
technical terms I would say that body and mind form one system that
arises as one whole. In Buddhist terms this is called Dependent
Co-arising.
With open awareness we can observe the joint working of our body and
mind. For instance it is very difficult to concentrate when you are in
pain, have a fever, or when you need to go to the bathroom urgently.
Your fine motor skills are impeded when there is anger in you.
The impact of chemistry of our body can be seen in for instance the working of Alcohol, Tabaco and caffeine.
Also the hormone levels influence our thinking and our feeling.
Observing our body and the interbeing of body and mind give us a more
clear and completer image of the present moment. Observing if there is
hunger, warm or cold, tenseness, fatigue or fit, give rise to take care
of the body, but also to take care of the mind.
I invite us to practice this weekend in open and without prejudice
experiencing the body and the world as it is. To enjoy all the richness
of experiences that all of this offers and to smile at our dualistic
thinking.
Feel gratitude and feel caring , to take care of body and mind as a whole.
It is an invitation to feel the whole, like the river is formed by the bedding, and the bed is formed by the river.
Have a wondrous day, with beautiful discovery,
Warm greetings,
Hans
